  1. I really liked how that one video you had showed a teacher integrating iPads into the daily routine. We saw kids doing math, reading, writing, etc. He has obviously trained his students well so they know when they can access the iPads and when they get to use the old-school book or paper. I see the biggest benefit for using tablets in turn-around time. If a child submits a paper to a teacher, the teacher can type feedback write on the form and send it back to them without using a single stitch of paper. I think it would be really neat to integrate tablets into my classroom!

    1. I agree that streamlining with tablets can be very helpful. As a teacher there is a ton that needs to be done. I have to say that a large portion of my day is just taken up organizing not only student work but my own papers. If everything was digitized organization would be much easier.

    2. Your reply hit home! By the end of the school day, I swear I spend at least 10 minutes straightening up my desk and putting papers in the right place. What's more, children are less organized than me and often lose papers. If things are submitted digitally, there's note excuse!

  2. When a student sees an Ipad, they instantly become engaged. It doesn't matter what is being done on it, they are listening and working. I am a really organized person and it is amazing how easy it is to become overwhelmed with the amount of paperwork we go through. I would love to see a more digital environment in education!

  3. I believe students are instantly engaged with the iPad because it is a practical tool from their world. Computers and other technology are used on a daily basis. While on the other hand things like books, paper, pencil or even a hand held calculator are only used in the classroom. Whenever students see the practical nature of an activity they are much more willing to complete it.

  4. I love the idea of tablets in the classroom because they're so appealing to students. Additionally, they're light-weight. How many times have we seen students lugging tons of heavy books to/from school in a backpack? Ouch! I believe the number of school districts that encourage/enable tablet use will only continue to grow. as will the number of quality apps available for teachers to use.

    1. That's a good point Donna. A lot of students have a lot of heavy textbooks and materials to carry around. For some subjects the school district even buys two books for each student, one for the classroom and one for home. Two textbooks costs a whole lot more than a iPad. Also, it is not good for growing students to carry heavy bags. I know back issues are a growing problem.

  5. I like your blog site. It is very clean and professional looking.
Hopefully, tablets will be common place in the classroom. That will help their expansion through the business sector. Earlier, I went to t a new doctor and instead of filling out a stack of forms, they handed me an iPad with the form on it. Instead of 7 pages all asking for the same information, it was done in a couple of screens.
